The Collectors Alphabet: A is for Art
We had Stefan Surratt (Dragon Peak Publishing) & Stefan Pokorny (artist extreme and founder of Dwarven Forge) on the show this week. It was absolutely amazing! Stefan S. showed off a ton of art from various DCC/MCC/Goodman Games artists. Stefan P. took us on a tour of his amazing home/studio/Great Hall (yes, complete with Dragon Throne). Grape Ape had a ton of different art styles, and me, well, I had a few things to share.
Take a watch: The Collectors Alphabet
What I showed off:
- Log+Jotter May Notebook (Log+Jotter Monthly Notebooks)
- The Codex of Light (Nick Baran Patreon)
- Joey Royale Original (Get Haunted Patreon)
- Teddy Roosevelt Atomic Comic Era Fanfic Covers
- National Park Poster Retro Collection (National Park Posters)
The why:
Log + Jotter ($5/month): A fantastic pocket notebook subscription. I used to be a massive Field Notes collector, but these hit a different, much more budget-friendly sweet spot.
Nick Baran: The man responsible for pushing me over the edge into running Dungeon Crawl Classics. He was my very first DCC Judge and the catalyst for my own DCC group, which is now going strong at the three-year mark.
Joey Royale: Honestly, do you even have to ask? This incredible painting was a gift for attending his very first Fairhaven Bus Tour #1.
Teddy Covers: I spotted these at a local art show and they immediately blew me away. I’ve been collecting comic books since the 1970s, and this features Teddy Freakin' Roosevelt alongside Sherlock Holmes fighting the Headless Horseman. It is the absolute SPELL-MAN Trifecta!
National Park Posters: The goal is to visit every single National Park (we’re currently in the teens). We grab a throwback-style poster for every park we hit. Sure, it’s a $20 poster in a $200 frame, but my goodness, they look stunning on the walls!
